BĂ©rose is a duo at the top of Caribbean music today. A crossover music that is at the crossroads of the influences that have made the history of the West Indies. Sonia Pinel-FĂ©rĂ©ol on vocals, and Dominique BĂ©rose on keyboards, finally mark with their name the music of Martinique and Guadeloupe that they have served for so long with this first album, the very well named Parcours. From mazurka to gwoka, from biguine to chouval bwa and jazz, it is a detailed review, a music lesson to which we are invited, enriched by talented collaborations: Ralph Thamar, Luther François, Dominique Bougrainville, Jean-Marc Albicy, FrĂ©dĂ©ric Caracas, Beethova Obas… No complacency or ease in Dominique’s writing, and that’s what makes this album so strong, and of the arrangements it offers us. It is also a great pleasure to hear Sonia singing, and not only in the quality choirs she has had the opportunity to perform with Kassav’ or Malavoi for instance. We find her on titles tailored to her, but also on original compositions where she happily combines Caribbean tradition and innovation. In short, Parcours is destined to become a cornerstone of this Caribbean fusion of which Sonia and Dominique are undeniably among the main architects.
